Our Story
Melissa and Ryan met in the fall of 2012 in a public speaking course that was a prerequisite course for pharmacy school. Why do you need to take a public speaking course to get into pharmacy school? Evidently, it's to find the love of your life because the class itself sure wasn't worth much. Anyway, they sat next to each other and had to interview and introduce each other to the rest of the class, like speed dating but you pay exorbitant tuition for your entrance fees. She found him to be incredibly smart and laid back and appreciated his sarcastic sense of humor (Editor's Note: His sarcastic sense of humor probably isn't as cute as it used to be.) He thought she was pretty, shy, and a supremely talented musician with a fun fashion sense. Over the next year, they became close through late night biochemistry study sessions and many many 3:00 am chats about anything and everything.
In 2013, Ryan started pharmacy school at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and Melissa joined him the following year. Their friendship survived a rocky patch during the Great Blue Dress/Gold Dress debate of 2015, and they remained close friends until 2017 when they realized that there could be something more to their relationship. They went on a date to hike Loudoun Heights in Harper's Ferry, he visited her every weekend while she was on rotation in Cumberland, they booked a trip to Acadia National Park and Quebec City a few months later, and they haven't looked back since.
